Projects
Conservation and advocacy initiatives we lead to preserve Hong Kong's heritage.
TourInno – Yan Chau Tong Tourism Innovation Project
The 印洲塘旅遊實驗計劃 is an 18-month action research project launched in September 2023, organized by the Hong Kong Community Heritage Foundation and supported by the Countryside Conservation Office’s funding scheme. This project explores how to unlock the unique cultural and ecological treasures of rural Hong Kong, partnering with local communities to co-create authentic, meaningful, and sustainable travel experiences.
Connect Ma Wan Chung Project
Ma Wan Chung Village is a historic fishing village that once served as Lantau Island’s economic lifeline. Its limited development over the years has preserved nearby monuments and traditional customs. The project aims at promoting district revitalization and cultural inheritance in Ma Wan Chung. It studies the living history and carrying capacity of the area, and co-create sustainable development and conservation solutions with local residents. A “”virtual public space”” will be established by end of this project to collect and showcase the humanistic stories of the Tung Chung Bay area through diverse multimedia. There will also be a series of interactive public engagement programs to make good use of the local living cultural assets and connect people and the place. It will thus bring opportunities for the development of the North Lantau Recreation Corridor.
“Hang Seng Eco-Heritage Project”
In collaboration with Hang Seng Bank, our NGO has launched an exciting Eco-Heritage Program from 2024 to 2025 to promote awareness and appreciation of the human-nature relationship through tours and hands-on activities in Sha Tau Kok and its neighboring villages, focusing on three themes: waste & recycling, biodiversity & rural heritage, sustainable rural revitalization, sustainable agriculture, and tree protection. These tours will feature a diverse range of activities including farm-to-table experiences, village biodiversity tours, and re/upcycling plant visits with workshops, with assistance provided by specially trained Hang Seng staff volunteers.
Lamma Mia Public Art Guided Tours
Organized by the Art Promotion Office (Leisure and Cultural Services Department) in partnership with Art Together and the Hong Kong Community Heritage Foundation in 2021, these tours invited visitors to discover the fascinating natural beauty and layered heritage of South Lamma Island. Through these tailored experiences, participants explored the intersection of art, local storytelling, and lived heritage. The program encouraged direct engagement with the island community, offering rare insights into Lamma’s traditions, ecology, and history.
Yau Tsim Mong District Council Ethnic Minority Virtual Tours
During a time of COVID social distancing in 2021, the Yau Tsim Mong District Council jointly developed the Ethnic Minority Virtual Tours with HKCHF, a real-time experience conducted on Zoom. This program offers a unique opportunity to explore the vibrant districts of Tsim Sha Tsui and Jordan, focusing on the significant development of ethnic minorities in the city. The tour delves into their diverse businesses and highlights their invaluable contributions to the local communities. By engaging in this virtual journey, participants gained a deeper understanding and appreciation of the rich cultural tapestry woven by ethnic minorities within Hong Kong.
