The Hong Kong Community Heritage Foundation (HKCHF), established as a tax-exempt charitable organisation in 2013, is dedicated to the proactive preservation and sustainable adaptive reuse of Hong Kong’s heritage. Since its inception, HKCHF has been a steadfast advocate for protecting and conserving various heritage across the city.
Our impactful work includes leading the successful campaign for the preservation of the iconic State Theatre, which resulted in its upgrade to Grade 1 historic status, and co-producing the evocative documentary “To Be Continued | 《尚未完場》” to chronicle its story.
In recent years, HKCHF has also expanded its focus to include sustainable tourism development, running programs to promote innovative solutions in rural areas such as Sha Tau Kok and Ma Wan Chung.
HKCHF’s multifaceted approach involves crowdsourcing information, conducting credible research and assessments, proposing innovative solutions for heritage conservation and adaptive reuse, and collaborating with like-minded organisations both locally and worldwide to facilitate knowledge exchange and champion conservation initiatives.
Through these efforts, HKCHF strives to ensure that Hong Kong’s heritage continues to embody the city’s memories, enabling future generations to inherit and appreciate the unique urban and rural legacy of Hong Kong, serving as a gift from current generations to the future.
